OUR HISTORY

The Boatyard occupies a storied site on Shelter Island, originally built in the 1960s as one of San Diego’s iconic Chart House restaurants—a beloved waterfront dining destination known for its prime steaks and fresh seafood. Over the years, the building became a landmark for locals and visitors alike, embodying the coastal charm and mid-century spirit of Point Loma. In the 1990s, restaurateur Steve Rock took over the space, transforming it into Fiddler’s Green, a nautical-themed steak and seafood house that served the community for decades with its warm, maritime atmosphere. Our team is honored to carry this legacy forward—revitalizing the building while paying homage to both the Chart House roots and the spirit of Fiddler’s Green.
